, this is this week's radio addresses. president obama talking about the countries response to hurricane sandy. then mitt romney talking about the upcoming election. >> this weekend, millions of our fellow americans are still picking up the pieces from one of the worst storms in our history. i toured new jersey on wednesday with governor christie, and witnessed some of the terrible devastation firsthand. it's heartbreaking. families have lost loved ones. entire communities have been wiped away. even some of the first responders who repeatedly put themselves in harm's way to bravely save the lives of others have suffered losses of their own. today, i ask everyone to keep them in your prayers. and as president, i promise them this -- your country will be there for you for as long as it takes to recover and rebuild. throughout the week, i've been in constant contact with governors and mayors in the affected areas, who are doing an excellent job in extraordinarily difficult circumstances. and we owe the first responders and national guardsmen who have been working around the clock our deepest grat
trail and responded. to sandy. all over america, people were thrilled to see him working with the republican governor of new jersey. andthe mayor of new york city who is an independent endorsed president obama. [applause] and the democratic governors of new york and connecticut, to turn the electricity on and clean the debris. what i want to tell you is, cooperation works better when there is no disaster. if he did not have cooperation, disaster. barack obama is a curve and coal operator. -- barack obama is a proven cooperators. [cheers and applause] he even offered in an attempt to get a budget deal, at $1 trillion in spending cuts. they said, thank you very much. no deal. we will not see one penny raised on the wealthiest americans even if it will get rid of $4 trillion in debt. the door is still open. when you re-elect him, they will walk through that door. the last week or so since hurricane sandy incentive -- it affected parts of cleveland as well, i went to a church this morning. they told us the pastor he talked about the damage done. i tell you what. one of the things from the day before the storm hit, the president i would get on the line with a conference call with all the governors in the affected states, from my state of delaware, and with the mayors as well. with all of our team, the secretary of defense. the fema director and the entire team. my mom used to say out of everything bad something good will happen. what i took away from this last week was the incredible amount of cooperation just between democrats and republicans. my governor is a democrat. he is on the line and he is talking to governor chris christie. he is saying we got hit in delaware. you got hit worse than we did. we will send you some of our cherry pickers to put up the electricity. that was the nature of the conversation. i was proud. i was elected without is a 29 year old kid. that is how it used to be. we used to always work together. that is the way it u
